A young dad who died in a scrambler bike crash on Easter Sunday as been named locally as 18-year-old Jason Monks.

The dad-of-one was killed when the scrambler motorbike he was riding collided with a car in Citywest, Dublin at around 8pm on Sunday night, reports Dublin Live.


His devastated mum and partner have since led heartbreaking tributes on social media, while a Gofundme has been launched to give the teen a proper send-off.

“My beautiful baby boy. How is my life ever going to be the same ever again? 18 years of loving you, the best 18 years of my life. I will love you always my beautiful boy,” mum Donna posted on Facebook. His partner Shannon meanwhile posted a photo of the tragic father holding their baby girl and wrote: “Wish this was all a bad dream.”

Meanwhile Shannon’s grandfather Mark posted a carousel pictures of Jason on social media and said: “Our Granddaughter Shannon lost her partner and our great Granddaughter lost her Dad Jason Monks last night. We are heartbroken for them and Jason's family.

“A lovely young man with the biggest heart, and a smile and laugh that would cheer you up in the worst of days. A person who would do anything to help anyone who needed it. We are heartbroken but also smiling when we see the things people have up in Facebook and videos which will help in the coming time. We are all going to miss you. Rip our friend, our family. Keep an eye on us all from up there in the clouds.”

Local Independent councillor Dermot Richardson said: "The community is in shock from the death of such a young person. My condolences to all his family." A Gofundme has since been set up and shared by Jason’s friends online. In a message on the fundraiser a pal wrote: “Please donate to help us give Jason the send off he deserves. Everyone knows how Jason would have helped anyone he was the most kind hearted loving person. Always fixing everything for everyone, always there to lend a hand. So please do the same for him.”


Local police confirmed they are investigating the single road traffic collision and have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to come forward. In a press release issued on Monday morning police said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Citywest, Dublin 24 yesterday, Sunday 20th April 2025. At approximately 8pm Gardaí and emergency services responded to a collision involving a car and a scrambler motorbike on Citywest Avenue, Dublin 24.

“The driver of the scrambler, an adult male aged in his late teens, was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. There were no other injuries reported.

"Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have conducted a technical examination of the scene and the road has since been reopened. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7.45pm and 8.15pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station on (01) 6666000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
